The Boychoir of Ann Arbor is just back from the Baltimore Boychoir Festival in May 2009!
The Boychoir has enjoyed a rich tradition and many good times during
tour season over the years.
In July 2004, we achieved our goal of participating in the World
Festival of Singing for Men and Boys in the Czech Republic! The Boychoir
of Ann Arbor joined choirs from all over the world for ten days of singing, learning
from world class conductors, performing, attending concerts, and making friends,
culminating in a festival concert with 500 men and boys held in Dvorak Hall in
Prague. It was a truly fantastic experience!
In summer 2002, we were honored to be invited back, without audition, to participate
in AmericaFest
2002, an International Singing Festival for Men and Boys, held
in Collegeville, MN. A fun filled week of singing with boys from all over the
world under the direction of world famous conductors, as well as attending fabulous
nightly concerts, and playing 'football' with choirs from Latvia and South Carolina,
ended with a headline performance at the Sixth World Symposium on Choral Music.
The Island Tour during June and July 2001 took the Boychoir to Northern Michigan
for concerts in Elk Rapids, Mackinac Island, and Harbor Springs. A highlight
was a boat trip, weekend stay and concert on lovely Beaver Island where we were
greeted warmly by the island’s inhabitants. |

Summer of 2000 saw the
Boychoir traveling to Minnesota to participate in AmericaFest
2000, an international gathering of boychoirs and
directors with performances,
workshops, and high-level training in the choral art.
In June 1999 we traveled to Toronto for an adjudicated performance, and also
sang for an international gathering of the World Council of Churches at Victoria
University.
In 1997 we traveled to Grand Rapids to sing in two performances of Mahler’s
Eighth Symphony with the Grand Rapids Symphony, the University Musical Society
Festival Chorus, and the Grand Rapids Choir of Men and Boys.
In 1996 we traveled to Saugatuck, Michigan to participate in their first annual
Renaissance Festival, singing two concerts. One of these concerts featured the
boys’ production of Britten’s The Golden Vanity.
Our 1995 tour was to Washington, D.C. and Virginia. We sang concerts and services
in Washington National Cathedral, The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception,
Truro Church (Fairfax), and Bruton Parish Church (Colonial Williamsburg).
