Dr.
Thomas Strode, Founder and Music Director
Dr. Thomas Strode is a native of Portland, Oregon and
came to Ann Arbor in order to pursue graduate studies in music. He earned the Master of Music degree in 1975, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1981, as a pupil of Dr. Marilyn Mason, in organ performance. A church musician from the age of 15, he was Organist & Choirmaster of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor from 1977 to 2000. He is currently Director of Music at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, where he directs the Adult and Handbell Choirs. He also teaches in the church's day school, where he directs the Middle School Choir and teaches a course in Music Appreciation for 6-8 graders. As an organ recitalist, Dr. Strode has performed in several states as well as in England, France, and Spain. Dr. Strode founded The Boychoir of Ann Arbor in 1987. |

Alex Sutton, Assistant Music Director
Alex Sutton is Assistant Music Director of the Boychoir of Ann Arbor, where he directs the Preparatory Choir and assists with the Performing Choir. While an undergraduate, Alex served as music director of the Michigan Pops Orchestra from 2007-2008. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he taught elementary music in schools in Ypsilanti, Taylor, and Dearborn Heights. In addition to his work with BAA, Alex is currently pursuing a master's degree at the University of Michigan, where he studies conducting
with Jerry Blackstone. |
